And...I'm Back!

After an extremely long hiatus and by popular demand (my dad kept bugging me), I'm back to the blog! June and July were consumed by bar exam studying and August was spent first relaxing and then job searching. Because I took a bar review prep course, I attended classes for the first six weeks of the study period. Each morning Kyle and I would wake up and walk to nearby Seattle University for classes that ranged from 2 to 4 hours long. After class we headed home for lunch and then usually studied until dinner. I'm a slow studier, so I also usually studied after dinner until around 10pm. On the weekends we didn't have class, but we still had a study schedule to follow.

Leela kept me company while I studied.
Even with all the studying, we made sure to have some fun. We took time to go for long walks with Leela around our neighborhood and have dinner at local restaurants to get out of the apartment. We checked out a few of the local festivals like the Ballard Seafood Festival and the Seattle Bite.

Leela & me at Volunteer Park.

Leela at Cal Anderson Park.

About a week after the move, the Phillies were in town for a series against the Seattle Mariners. We bought tickets to the Father's Day game before we even moved. I brought a special sign hoping to make it onto TV...

For the Fourth of July weekend, we had two days off from class and studying so we left little Leela at home and went to Gasworks Park to see some fireworks. The park is just to the north of the city on Lake Union with a great view of downtown Seattle. The fireworks are set off from a barge on the lake so you can see the city behind the fireworks. The show was awesome, but different than what I expected. Everyone stood up to watch and the fireworks were set to a music soundtrack. I was used to watching fireworks on a blanket in the grass where you can feel and hear each boom resonate with the only other sounds coming from the crowd. The best part about watching from Gasworks was seeing all the little fireworks being launched from the nearby neighborhoods.

After 8 weeks of studying, stressing, and worrying, the bar exam finally came. The test was over three days at the end of July and it was one of the most exhausting experiences I've ever had. At the end of each testing day my brain was useless mush and all I could do was eat dinner and go to bed. I'm so relieved to be done with the process and hope that I won't have to take the test again in February! All I can do now is wait until October when the results are released....

More to come on our post-exam adventures!

Hello, Seattle!

I've been calling Seattle home for about 10 days and I'm already in love! The city is gorgeous and the weather is so nice compared to the heat of Philadelphia. Moving in has been crazy, exciting, stressful, and never-ending. But...I'm here. After months of planning and saving and organizing, we made it. Even though we're miles apart, you can check in on Leela & me as we explore our new city and make it home!

Love and miss you! xox
